Carl and Shirley welcome you to our site
Before moving into our current premises in Chester in May 2007 we had spent many happy years in Liverpool.
We started in the 'Quiggin Centre' in Liverpool as 'Bodydecor Piercing' (the original piercer from Quiggins). We soon got too busy for the space we were in and moved into our own studio at 'Petticoat Lane' on Bold Street.
We stayed on Bold Street for many years, but we were forced to find alternative premises when the building changed ownership. We spent a small amount of time working from 'Fallen Angel' on Lark Lane until we were invited to move our studio into Lewis's Department Store. We changed our name to 'bodz' because it's easier to remember.
Lewis's suffered financial difficulties and was placed in the hands of the administrators in February 2007. We were faced with a very difficult decision. We could stay put in the hope that a buyer might be found (which would leave us with no premises to work from for 3 months if it closed), or we could look around for alternative premises.
We scoured Liverpool for premises, but it's changing so much. There's lots of investment in big business, but nowhere for quirky, independent shops like ours, unless you don't mind working in a grotty dive like 'Grand Central', Liverpool's 'ghetto' for alternative culture. Our standards are so much higher than that !! We've searched around the region for a suitable place to settle and we think we've found the ideal spot.
Chester provides an environment where our little piercing shop can thrive. It's not a clone of every other City. It has a unique culture and history all of it's own.
- The University at Chester is fast becoming THE place to go for Drama, Art, Music and Business and there's a whole college dedicated to Law.
- There are so many little treasures to explore, in a City you simply CAN'T get lost in. There is a wall all round and the distance from one side to the other is only a mile. You can walk from one side to anywhere within 20 minutes !!
- If you walk round the shops and feel like you want more, there's another row of shops on top ! The City Wall also makes for a good walk, and there are steps to and from the Wall next to our studio.
- The river is a good place to be, too. There are boats for hire, ice cream and places to sit when the sun, eventually, decides to show it's face. (Ever the optimist).
- If you get fed up of all that - There's Roman Soldiers, Gladiators and Dancing Girls when the Romans come to have their 'Bachanalian Feast' at Alexanders. Pork and Juniper burgers on Flatbread with Honey and Sesame balls. It's actually really nice. We hope to be here until we retire. It's the perfect position for us - and for the majority of our customers.
We pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our art and we have gained a reputation for consistent, clean and, above all, safe bodypiercing. We have regular clients from as far afield as the Isle of Mann, Essex, Reading, Ireland, Spain and even Singapore. (and I'm NOT talking about students who come from EVERYWHERE).
Please keep an open mind whilst reading this site. We have learnt many things during our journey and this site is intended to share some of this knowledge so that body piercing can continue with the same regard and respect that it has always had.
Some of the information we provide may be different to the information you have found from other sources. We blend scientific fact and common sense in equal measure, new and old in harmony, and whilst remembering the past and our roots we are looking towards a future where piercing is a normal, everyday occurence and where those who love piercing are not treated as second class citizens.
The more we all learn about piercing, the less those who try to take advantage will actually be able to do so. Arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can so that those so-called bodypiercers who know very little don't earn at your expense.
This site is intended to provide information for as many people as possible. Any websites with adult content ( Nipple or Genital pictures) are banned in many libraries, homes and schools, so we do not display these photos here. There is a portfolio in the studio if you want to look at our work.
